Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts - RMA

Fine Arts

This magnet program provides transportation!

Nestled in Midtown Columbus, Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts (RMSOTA) is Muscogee County School District’s visual and performing arts magnet serving students in grades 6-12 from across the region. RMSOTA provides a college preparatory program featuring rigorous advanced honors courses and intensive arts instruction. Our magnet programs include: Band, Choir, Orchestra, Dance, Theatre, Visual Arts, Classical Piano, Classical Guitar, Creative Writing, Artists in Medicine (NEW pilot cohort), and Music Business & Production (NEW pilot arts major).

Students enrolled in our middle school (grades 6-8) select an arts focus area while participating in other arts area electives. The exploratory nature of the middle school arts program is an augmentation of the standard core curriculum (Math, Science, English, and Social Studies) providing our students with a well-rounded liberal arts experience. Our admissions committee reviews each applicant’s grade records, behavior records, survey responses, and teacher recommendations when making admissions decisions. Recently ranked in the top 20 middle schools in Georgia, admission to RMSOTA is highly competitive, however, we encourage all students to apply.

Admission to our high school (grades 9-12) is based on an audition performance or portfolio submission in the applicant’s selected arts area, a brief interview, grade and behavior records, teacher recommendations and application survey responses. This comprehensive application allows our committee to acquire a complete picture of the candidate’s fit for the magnet program at RMSOTA. Audition criteria for each arts program area can be viewed at this direct link (https://docs.google.com/docume... ) or on our website (http://rmsota.org/).

Final admissions decisions for both middle and high school applicants are based on the applicant’s qualifications, seat availability in the grade level, and arts program needs. We recognize that each applicant must also determine if RMSOTA will be a good fit for you and your family. Please view our magnet open house promotional video posted at the top of this page and join us in-person for our Magnet Open House on December 8th at 7:30 PM (invitation below). We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your application!

Families who reside outside of Muscogee County may not apply for admission to MCSD's magnet schools.
