Engineering and Biotechnology
Every status issued through this application (accepted, waitlisted, or denied) is official when it is released on March 22 at 8:00 a.m. To be considered for a magnet seat, you must (1) submit this application and (2) complete the Muscogee County School District Online Registration (OLR) for the 2027–2028 school year, with all required documents uploaded, by February 5 at 11:59 p.m. Your Magnet Application Number will be used to match this application with your student's MCSD Online Registration. You will be required to enter it in your OLR. Do not apply with multiple email addresses for a single student. Use one, commonly checked parent/guardian email address. All communication regarding your application will be sent automatically by email via this Online Application Portal. By completing this process including Online Registration, you grant permission for schools to send a Records Request to your previous academic institution(s) if you are not currently enrolled in the Muscogee County School District.
You have 72 hours (3 consecutive days) from the time your acceptance posts to accept or decline an offered seat (acceptance) in this portal. Your 72 hours start when your offer posts, which may be March 22 at 8:00 a.m. or any later day while the offer season is open. The time runs continuously for each calendar day, including weekends and holidays. If you do not respond within 72 hours (3 days), or if you decline, your student will move to the bottom of that school's waitlist and the seat will be offered to the next student. Your student may receive another offer while the offer season is open (through March 31). You may hold only one accepted seat at a time.

The Northside Biotechnology and Engineering Magnet programs are hands-on, project based courses that engage students on multiple levels, expose students to areas of study that they typically do not pursue and provide them with a foundation and proven path to college and career success. The Engineering program applies science, math, technology, and engineering to encourage problem solving complex, open ended problems in a real world context. Students focus on the process of defining and solving a problem, not just getting the “right” answer. The Biotechnology program enables students to receive initial exposure to many Healthcare Science careers. Fundamental healthcare skills are developed in microbiology and students are exposed to different fields through labs and other criteria.
Northside High School is a partial magnet, therefore we are only able to accept 100 students for the upcoming freshmen class. Students that live in the Northside attendance zone must apply as well to be considered for acceptance. Since our magnet program is heavily based in Math and Science we are looking for students who excel in that curriculum in addition to being well rounded students. Our selection criteria consists of current report card grades, rigor of current classes, previous standardized test scores, current Math and Science teacher recommendations, a Reasoning/Logic Challenge, attendance and behavior information.
Magnet students are REQUIRED to complete an advanced science track, which consists of all honors-level courses and at least one Advanced Placement (AP) course. There are no co-taught Honors or AP classes available.
A Dual Enrollment science class can satisfy the AP science requirement.
TESTING: We do NOT OFFER an entrance exam
Due to the sequencing of our magnet classes we are NOT able to accept rising JUNIORS or SENIORS unless the student has previously been enrolled in classes using the GaDOE pathway curriculum.
